When a young man, he went to Pompey, NY, served as sergeant in a company of that place during the War of 1812, and later was commissioned ensign in the New York militia. About 1820 he removed to Volney, NY, and finally to Oswego, NY, where he died Apr. 22, 1877, aged nearly ninety. He was a substantial farmer, a man of integrity, and for many years held the office of deacon in the church. He married May 3, 1810, Phebe Jerome, born Feb. 11, 1791, died Oct. 6, 1871, daughter of Levi Jerome of Pompey, NY.
