Mrs. Lenora McClain Young Lenora McClain Young passed away March 12, 1923. after a lingering illness borne with Christian fortitude. She remained cheerful and happy with ever a smile for all. Wednesday, March 7, at 3o'clock, she was suddenly taken with an attack of influenza, and due to her frailness she could not regain her health and passed away Monday,March 12 at 5 p.m. at her home three miles north of Osco village. Lenora McClain was born in Edford township. October 4, 1861. and grew to womanhood on the farm near Osco. She was united in marriage August 12,1885, toJohn H. Young of Eldora, Iowa. the wedding taking place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McClain.To this union was born three sons, James M. Young, M.D. of Annawan,Robert McClain Young, who preceded the mother to the beyond, and John Harvey Young, at home. Immediately following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Young went to Eldora,Iowa, where the husband had a home prepared. They resided there until in the fall of 1889, when they moved to Nelson, Neb., and were among the early pioneers of that section, enduring the hardships of western life with patience and fortitude during the years of drouths and failures. In the year of 1906 they came back to Henry county and purchased the McClain homestead. On their arrival their son Robert McClain Young, was suddenly taken ill with scarlet fever and passed away aftera briefillness of two days at 7a.m. February 22, 1906, and was laid away in the Grace church cemetery. Mrs. Young leaves to mourn her passing the husband. John H. Young,theson, Dr. James M. Young and wife. Nellie S. Young, of Annawan; and John Harvey Young, at home. Also three grandchildren, a sister, BelleMcClainBrizendina of Clinton, Mo., and three brothers, Alex McClain,of Sabetha,Kas.; Archie McClain, of Westchester. Pa.; John McClain, ofWichita.Kas., and a host of friends. Mrs. Young was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal church of Osco.Thefuneral was held at Grace church, Osco. and she was laid to rest in the church cemetery beside the son, Robert. following the service on March16th. "He giveth his beloved sleep."
