View this person on FamilySearch to see this information.<br> Additional information: <br> <br>LifeSketch: The departed brother In Christ, George Rentschler, was a son of Jacob Rentschler and his wife, Elizabeth, nee Snerley. He was born on the 31st day of March, 1871, at Lincoln, Illinois. (See note below) Being a son of Lutheran parents, he was received into the covenant of grace during his infant days, receiving the names of John George. After due instructions in the fundamental doctrines of our Christian religion, he renewed his baptismal covenant and was confirmed in the faith of the Lutheran Church at the place of his birth on the 25th day of March 1888, a faith to which he remained true all the days of his life. Shortly after his confirmation, he came to Deshler with his parents, where he spent the remainder of his childhood days and helped his father till the soil. On the 21st day of February, 1898, Mr. Rentschler was united in marriage to Emilie Groth. They established their home near Davenport, where Mr. Rentschler continued his occupation of tilling the soil. The Lord blessed their home with 7 children, 1 son and 6 daughters. Of these, one daughter Frieda Curran, preceded her father into the life to come, about four years ago. In 1930, they moved near Carleton and since 1934 they retired to their own home in Carleton, where they resided up to the present time. Mr. Rentchler developed a heart ailment about two and a half years ago and in spite of various medical aids, his condition gradually became more aggravated and alarming. Tuesday evening. March 14th, he suffered a severe attack, from which he never recovered, and it pleased the Lord to relieve him from his suffering at 11 o'clock the same evening.The days of our brothers sojourn on earth were 70 years, 11 months and 23 days. Those sorrowing over his departure from this life are: his wife, Emilie; six children, one son, John Rentschler, Carleton; five daughters, Carrie Merrit, Livingston, Mont.; Rose Springer, Omaha; Hilda Watmore, Shickley; Sophia Hansmeier,Omaha; Sadia Simonton, Davenport. Two brothers , Matt Rentschler, Deshler and Jake Rentschler, Fairbury; two sisters, Mrs. William Hendricks. Davenport and Mrs. Charles Kutscher, Deshler, also 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and also his friends. Taken from the Bruning Banner dated 3-29-1944
