Born in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, on August 14, 1869, he was married to Emily Mattis in Abbots Ford, Wisconsin, in 1896 and they came west to Chelan in 1898. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Ethel Kelly of Twisp, Mrs. Ruth Williams in Ca., Mrs. Alice Mowery of Lakeside, Mrs. Grace Hobbs of Chelan and Mrs. Dorothy Cole of Olympia; four sons, Ralph and Glen, both of Chelan, Byron of South Bend, and John of Seattle; 28 grandchildren; four brothers, Morgan of Spokane, Ernest of Wenatchee and Elmer and Walter, both of Soap Lake and one sister, Grace Harris of Inchelium.
