"Bill" Comp, 77, of Annawan, passed away Friday evening, June 22, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.</p> <p></p> <p>Funeral services will be 10 a.m.Tuesday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson. The Rev. Dan Wright and the Rev. Terry Lancaster will officiate. Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Mineral American Legion Post 1031 and Annawan VFW Post 7176. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Annawan/Alba Fire Department. <p></p> <p>Bill was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Manlius, Ill., the son of Harvey and Wilda Christensen Comp. He attended Sheffield schools and was united in marriage to Barbara S. Janis on July 3, 1965, in Buda, Ill. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Bill owned and operated Comp's Service Station in Annawan from 1967 to 1984, at which time he retired. He was a proud member of Mineral American Legion Post 1031, the 40/8 Voiture No. 433, Annawan, Annawan VFW Post 7176, where he served as past commander. He also was a longtime member of the Annawan/Alba Volunteer Fire Department and had served on the Annawan Village Board. He enjoyed fishing, having coffee with friends and playing cards. <p></p> <p>Survivors (and spouses) include his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara; son, Craig (April) Comp-Johnson, Altamont, Ill.; two daughters, Connie Brink, Quincy, Ill., Kathleen (David) Eifert, Centralia, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
