Dr. Young, Annawan physician and surgeon for 33 years, died Sunday morning in a Chicago hospital after suffering a stroke. He had been ill about 10 months.

Dr Young was born in Iowa, June 24, 1886. He was married toNellie Stephenson of Geneseo, and was later married to Annette Neumann of Prophetstown on June 16, 1946. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran church. He was affiliated with the Elks lodge at Kewanee, was a 33rd degree Mason and belonged to the Travelers' club.

Surviving are his wife and three children, Mrs Dorothy Graham of Atkinson, Wendell Young of Window Rock, Ariz., and Mrs. Eleanor Guthrieof Chicago.

Elon was united in marriage toEvelyn Jens on Oct. 10, 1948, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Geneseo.

He was an independent truck driver for many years. Elon was also alifetime farmer and livestock producer farming in the Andover andCambridge areas. Elon was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church,the American Legion, Henry County Farm Bureau and the Henry CountyPork Producers. He enjoyed gardening and researching trucks.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Vickie (Dr. Jim)Moriarity, South Bend, Ind., Julie (Andrew) Schaser, Waukesha, Wis.;two sons, Craig (Sally) Young, New York, N.Y., Mark (Jenny) Young,Geneseo; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Beatrice(Joe) DeGeeter, Atkinson. Visitation is Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home LTD, Geneseo; where Masonic Services will be conducted by Stewart Lodge #92 AF&AM at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Geneseo Endowment for Excellence in Education (G.E.E.E.).
Bob was born June 25, 1926 in Geneseo, the son of William C. Young, Sr. and Lucile (Schroeder) Young. He attended and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1944. Bob lived and farmed all of his life in Munson Township until retiring in 1997. In 1950 he married Barbara Thompson. He married Lauretta (Johnson) Greene on November 28, 1998 at the Presbyterian Church, Geneseo.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo, the Geneseo Kiwanis, Stewart Lodge #92 AF&AM, Illinois Rural Youth, Antique Engine & Tractor Association, Deere Valley Club, John Deere Two Cylinder Club, Seamless Iron, Munson Center Prairie Restoration, charter member of the Sheppard Tractor Organization, Illinois Dairy Association (supplying milk to Bakers Dairy, Moline, IL), Illinois Pork Producers, Illinois Beef Association, Henry County Farm Bureau, Illinois Department of Health Improvement Association (at which time he was President of the Henry County Chapter), Geneseo and Cambridge Saddle Clubs, Illinois Arabian Horse Association (during which time he sponsored the Youth Judging Teams).
Bob had many and varied interests some of which were his love of nature including Wild Prairie Preservation, Birding with various trips throughout the U.S. and abroad to the Galapagos Islands and Costa Rica, horse back riding (including 100 mile trail rides in Illinois and South Dakota), hunting (locally and in the Western States). He had interests in photography, antiques of all kinds, and refurbishing antique tractors. He enjoyed raising sweet corn, asparagus, and apples (with donations to Hillcrest Home, Good Samaritan Center, and others). Bob gave of himself without hesitation his many skills and knowledge to various neighbors and friends. His greatest joys came from sharing and participating with his children and their many activities and interests.
He was loved by his family, wife Lauretta, son Dean Young of Cambridge, IL, daughter and son-in-law Patricia Young and Duncan Fallon of Gold River, CA, daughter Janice Young of Overland Park, KS, grandson Jacob Young. Stepdaughter Sharon Nourse, of Coal Valley, IL, stepsons James Greene of Peoria, IL, and John Greene, of Dallas, TX and step-grandchildren Alex, Brian, Lucas, Erin, & Morgan Greene, and Heather & Nick Nourse.

Born Jan. 10, 1921, in Kewanee to Elmer and Margaret Corwin Lang,shemarried Clifford W. Moore on March 23, 1938, in Iowa. He died Jan.24,1994.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Judith Henderson of Vallia Vista,Alaska,and Mrs. Ronald (Carole) Mills of Waco; two grandchildren; onesister,Lorraine Lay of Kewanee; and one brother, Donald Lang ofKewanee.
She was a retail clerk for J.C. Penney Co. Inc. for many years.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at EvergreenMemoryGardens. The Rev. Bob Foulk will officiate. There will be novisitation.Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
