300 | Donald Bain Brockway, born November 9, 1913 in Detroit, the son of Philip and leah, nee Bain, Brockway, died Friday morning after an illness of several weeks. He was graduated from Western Hign School and held a degree in metallurgy and die casting from Henry Ford Community College. He was employed 33 years by Ford Motor Company where he was a chemical engineer. Mr. Brockway was confirmed May 31, 1959 in Holy Cross Lutheran Church. For many years he took his vacation so he could be in charge of the woodworking department of Vacation Bible School. He served as an usher, was a member of the finance board, was president of the Parent-Teacher League and organized the PTL fun night, which he directed several years. He worked several years with the Little League baseball team and bowled with the Holy Cross men's league. He was the first Sunday School bus driver, drove regularly when the church had but one bus. Because of his church and community activities, he was given the outstanding citizen of the community award, co-sponsored by Junior Achievement and Ford Motor Company. Mr. Brockway was united in Marriage June 29, 1935 with Betty Karshner, who preceded him in death July 2, 1968. He survived by his wife Ruth, nee Bozarth, with whom he was united in marriage December 20,1969; his children, Mrs. Fred (Donna Jean) Lewis of Byron; James P. of Livonia; Mrs. Charles (Sue Ann) Melfi of Northville; Gary,Harry of Fort Knox, Kentucky; and Michael. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Leroy (Barbara) Butters and a brother, Phillip Brockway, both of Fenton. Interment will be in Woodmere Cemetery. | Brockway, Donald Bain (I0297)
